MASSAGES
What are the benefits of regular massage?
A regular massage can help reduce or eliminate pain, improving joint mobility, circulation, and lymphatic drainage. Massage also reduces muscular tension and relieves feelings of stress or anxiety.
Do I need to take off all my clothes for a massage?
You will need to take off your clothes for the areas to be massaged to be accessed. While you need to be undressed for a full body massage, please be assured that the careful draping and arranging of towels is used so that only the area of the body being worked on is exposed and the rest remains covered. Your comfort is of upmost importance so please feel free to discuss any concerns prior to the massage so that we can come up with a treatment plan together.
FACIALS
What is a facial and why do I need one?
A facial is a professional cleansing, purifying, and beautifying treatment of the skin on the face and neck. Facials are the number one treatment performed by a beauty therapist and a good way for your therapist to get a good understanding of your skin prior to suggesting more specific treatments.
For most people, facials can be scheduled every four weeks, although your therapist may recommend a different schedule. There are many variations of facials based on different needs, as well as different lengths of time.
What should I expect when having a facial?
Facials are generally very relaxing and soothing. Your therapist will explain to you what the treatment steps will be. Be sure to communicate with your therapist during the facial if any product burns or itches, or if you need anything or have any questions.
I feel overwhelmed by the choices with skin care products, and I don't know what to choose!
There are a lot of products available on the market, and it certainly can be overwhelming, especially with the claims made by products. My advice is to try products during treatments or ask for samples, and make sure you are using the products correctly. It's important to see how they feel on your skin and have realistic expectations of the results you expect to achieve.
What are the differences between the supermarket brand products and salon bought products?
You will find salon bought products will be of a higher quality of products and will have a higher quantity of the active ingredients. You can also benefit from talking to therapists in salons about your particular skin needs and receive professional advice.
While I do not believe in spending outrageous amounts of money on skincare, I do understand the costs of product development, sourcing products, ensuring renewable high-quality ingredients, and educating skin care professionals. When purchasing a new skincare product, consider where you are buying from, and if you are receiving professional advice along with it.
LASH & BROW TINTS
Are brow and lash tints okay with sensitive skin?
Generally tinting is fine on sensitive skins. If you have especially sensitive skin and are prone to reactions, I recommend a patch test a week before getting the tint done.
How long does the tint last for?
Brow tints slowly begin to fade back to their original shade within 3 to 4 weeks, and eyelash tints within 2-3 weeks. Available in four colours - black, light brown, medium brown, dark brown. Results usually last 2-4 weeks or more.
WAXING
I’ve never been waxed before. How is it done?
Warm wax is applied to the area and then removed, bringing the hair with it. There are two types of wax – hard wax and soft wax. Hard wax is easier on delicate areas and is often used on the face, underarms, and bikini area. Soft wax is used on the legs, arms, back and chest.
What are the benefits of waxing?
Waxing reduces hair growth when performed at regular 30-day intervals. Because waxing pulls the hair out by the root, it grows back softer, finer and thinner. The more you wax, the less the hair grows back.
What do I need to do to prepare for my waxing appointment?
Let the hair grow out to about 2cm above the skin. This is necessary because if the hairs are too short, the wax won’t adhere strongly enough to pull them out.
TANNING
Is fake tanning okay for sensitive skin?
Fortunately, these days tanning products are now available with naturally-derived DHA which can reduce the risk of allergy or reaction in people with sensitive skin.
If you’ve been one of those beauties who has kept away from the faux glow due to skin sensitivities, you can now step into your bronzing era. If you have especially sensitive skin, I recommend popping into the salon for a patch test prior to your tanning treatment.
How long does it last?
This tanning treatment generally lasts three to six days. To lock in the colour and help it fade evenly, please apply a good quality body moisturiser after showering. Please note, if you are an avid swimmer, you may find it fades quicker and you may like to use a tan topper each day, which is a body moisturiser that contains a small amount of self-tan.
Do I have to do anything prior to tanning?
Please shower, exfoliate and de-fluff 24 hours before your tanning treatment. Wear dark loose clothes to your appointment, and please don't wear any creams, perfumes or deodorants to the session as it may compromise outcomes.
Do I need to take off all my clothes?
You will be required to expose the parts of your body that you would like tanned. It is up to you where you would like to be tanned. If you want your stomach, thighs, breasts and buttocks to have a bronzed glow, you're going to have to let your therapist see them.
